Happy trails.

Avalon puts you right in the center of the natural wonders of the Blue Ridge and the Great Smoky Mountains.

Have you been to Waynesville, North Carolina? If so, then you know all about the pleasures of this amazing Western NC town, the largest in Haywood County, yet steeped in small town charm. Just 25 minutes from Asheville, Waynesville offers farm-to-table eateries, craft beer pubs, funky and fun boutiques, high-end stores, friendly cafes, and fascinating galleries. There is always something to celebrate here with a multitude of festivals and events shared by those who call this home and those who flock to visit. Sitting right between the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Blue Ridge Mountains, outdoor recreation opportunities abound. It’s safe to say there is no end of ways to explore and enjoy the Waynesville area.

Avalon. Everything you need to be happy. Nothing you don’t.
Life unplugged, but fiber optic secure.

Just ten minutes from town, you’ll find a 415-acre community that reflects the relaxed nature of this area. Avalon, set just above Lake Junaluska, offers some of the best long-range views anywhere in the Waynesville area. This is a community that celebrates natural beauty with nicely planned hiking trails along waterfalls and streams. There are neighborhood parks, gathering spots, a community pavilion coming 2021, and a fishing pond where parents and kids can cast a line.

What you won’t find here are fussy amenities like golf, clubhouse dining or the expenses that go with them. But what you will find here are the important necessities that make every day a pleasure and are often hard to find in the mountain area — high-speed fiber optic, underground utilities, city water, community fire hydrants, wide paved roadways, build-able soft sloping home sites, and perhaps most important, friendly people who are very happy to share it all with you. HOA fees in this financially sound community are a mere $1,300 per year.

Avalon provides a perfect vantage point to enjoy the best of the Western Carolinas. Just minutes from the Pisgah waterfalls, you’re also only 25 minutes from Asheville with its eclectic culture, art, entertainment, and dining, 45 minutes from Asheville airport and…wait for it…five minutes from a new Publix. (Let’s face it, that’s huge, when you forgot that essential ingredient.)

What’s new at Avalon?
A showstopper model home by Moss Creek, ready for you to tour.

Located on a corner home site, just above the community pavilion, is an amazing 3,200 square-foot-home by Moss Creek Homes of Knoxville. The handsome stonework comes from this area and the woodwork is reclaimed from a local barn. You’ll see quality touches inside and out right down to the powder-coated gutters. The craftsmanship and attention to detail runs deep throughout every aspect of this home, and lucky for you it is open for tours for Private Mountain Community prospects. We highly recommend you take a look for ideas for your new home, or perhaps to purchase this one for yourself.

Meet Lori and Bob Koch of Northern New Jersey.
A visit to Avalon was love at first sight.

Lori and Bob Koch had come to Western North Carolina for a visit and before they knew it, they had found the perfect home site to build their new home. Said Lori, “My husband is usually one to really think things through and analyze everything. But when he saw this community in this adorable town, and the mountaintop setting, well, that was it. When you know, you know.” The Kochs have just completed the construction of their new home, which will serve as a vacation getaway until they are ready to leave the high taxes and rat race of New Jersey behind for a serene retirement.

“Every aspect of building here has been a pleasure,” says Lori, “They have taken very good care to keep us up to date and to explain every step. We really couldn’t be happier.” Lori appreciates the peace, quiet and privacy of their two-and-half-acre setting, coupled with the access to town. “I didn’t want anything too remote. This is just perfect. And the neighbors have been so friendly and helpful.”

Now that the home is complete Bob and Lori are looking forward to exploring all the wonders of the area. Lori recently went on a three-waterfall hike with her daughter, and can’t wait to do more. “We appreciate the fact that the focus of living here is on the surrounding community and natural recreation, rather than being locked into a club life. We both enjoy tennis and golf, but there are plenty of opportunities to do that outside of the community if we feel the need.”

The community that “just felt right” is happy to welcome the Kochs home.
