Our Team
Led by Founder and President, Harry Redfearn, Private Mountain Communities is recognized as the authority on community living in Western North Carolina. With over 50 years of combined experience in private residential and resort communities the team at PMC has done extensive on site research to understand the unique differences of each community. “Unlike a traditional real estate experience our community advisors don’t list or sell property so their unbiased approach saves our customers time and ultimately helps them make a more informed decision.”
In 2005 Harry formed Private Mountain Communities, a real estate advisory service that provides consumers with an independent buyers resource and the PMC Discovery Showroom that showcases the communities of WNC in the regions most comprehensive pre-view center.
Harry is actively involved in charitable work in the greater Asheville community including serving on the advisory board for Eblen Charities. Harry is a frequent speaker at the Southeast Land and Real Estate Conference and the North Carolina Center for Creative Retirement. Harry is an avid runner and enjoys fitness training, golf, and boating.

“For me, moving to the mountains of Western North Carolina was like coming home again. I’ve always dreamed of moving to the mountains… and now I have fulfilled my dream and have the ability to help others do the same.”
Welcome to my hometown! The Asheville area has always been my home, and I love Western North Carolina very much–I’m quick to admit my bias. I am the daughter of a real estate developer (father) and managing broker (mother) who have over 60 years of experience between them. For over twelve years I have made real estate my own career, developing and strengthening skills in areas of the business that really resonate with me–particularly in sales of residential land, lots, and homes within amenity communities. I’ve worked on site at The Settings Communities, The Ramble Biltmore Forest, and Grand Highlands at Bearwallow Mountain, and I’ve worked as a Buyer’s representative in many others. I can very easily visualize the home my customers describe to me on a vacant parcel of land, and my great hope is that I can also help my customers begin to see how the lay of the land can very naturally translate into the living space they envision. I love watching as a family stands on a vacant lot and catches a glimpse of their dream home.
The Asheville area offers opportunities for a simultaneously leisurely and adventure-seeking lifestyle, and that seems to be what so many people are looking for when they relocate to Western North Carolina. I’m very familiar with both aspects–I grew up riding and showing horses, attending several of the area’s famous summer camps, hiking these beautiful mountains, and rafting our enticing rivers. This area has also been my education, my earliest work experience includes 10 years at Biltmore Estate—and, by the way, I’m fascinated to see that Asheville holds the same appeal for folks looking to relocate today as it did for George Vanderbilt and his family 120 years ago. My studies led me to Virginia twice–initially, to graduate from Liberty University and later, to attend Regent University School of Law–but my heart led me back home. Today, my husband and I live in a cottage in our hometown (and little Mayberry), Black Mountain. We make time for regular running, walks, hikes, visits to Biltmore, meals at our area’s amazing restaurants, and entertaining in our backyard.
My wife and I fell in love with the Asheville area over 20 years ago when we used to come visit my sister and her family. We decided to move here 10 years ago when I was offered a real estate broker position at Mountain Air Country Club just north of Asheville. I have also worked at a couple of other developments in the area. I have experience as a mortgage broker and a home builder as well.
We are originally from Pinehurst, NC but moved here from the Atlanta area, so we are enjoying the mild seasons and the much cooler summers! Our family consists of a 28 year old daughter and a 26 year old son. We like hiking, tennis, golf and just exploring all the things there are to do in this area (which is quite a lot!). I have also taken up wood working as a hobby and have even sold a few items in local galleries.
Nothing is more satisfying to me than helping a person or family pick out that special piece of property that will become their Dream Home in the Mountains. Western NC is truly a special area and I feel very fortunate to live here.
12 Years ago, after visiting and falling madly in love with Asheville and the Blue Ridge Mountains…I listened to my heart and stayed. Since starting my real estate career ten years ago with the Cliffs Communities, I have been fortunate to work with families from all over the country and assisted them with finding their dream home in some of the premier, master planned communities in Western North Carolina. My dedication to the entire relocation experience is apparent in my ability to truly listen to my clients and creatively pair their needs with their desires ultimately determining perfect solutions.
In addition to my passion for homes and land in western, NC, I have declared myself “Asheville’s Biggest Fan!” I love serving as concierge for my new “Ashevillian” clients, guiding them to the latest and greatest that Asheville has to offer!” Dedicated to homeless and disadvantaged animal rescue, I am an avid believer in the concept of “Adopting Not Shopping.” As a long time fitness enthusiast and devout yogi, I could not be more excited about finally taking my passion for the practice to new levels as a certified yoga instructor!
Whether you’re new to the area or a seasoned fan, a first time buyer or you’re simply looking for a new “view,” I look forward to assisting you with all of your real estate needs.
