Cool Summers & Panoramic Views

Cool Summers and Panoramic Views – 4,000 feet above it all

Although Little Pine is only 35 minutes from downtown Asheville, the elevation at 4,300
feet gives this community a very distinctive feel from the city — beginning with the fresh, clean mountain air that is on average eight degrees cooler than the city. (Yes, “8 degrees of separation” can make a refreshing difference.)

From the highest point in the community, you can see the entire skyline Asheville and all the way to Tennessee, spanning through 13 mountain ridgelines — layer upon layer of Blue Ridge Mountain beauty. The selection of homes and homesites here makes the most of the setting without intruding on the natural splendor.

The community’s mountaintop lodge is a special place to relax with friends around the outdoor fireplace or enjoy a sunset view at the bar. And conveniently, there are also two condominium suites to rent for visitors and guests of the residents.

Dedicated to nature and nature lovers.

The Preserve at Little Pine offers 1,800 acres of natural beauty — 75 percent will be preserved in its natural state. Says Jack Fisher, founder and developer, “My vision for The Preserve at Little Pine is to protect this one-of-a-kind setting in Western North Carolina for individuals who cherish this land as much as I do—and who want to safeguard these mountains, streams and valleys to ensure a living legacy for our children’s children.”

Outdoor enjoyment is the hallmark of life here. Residents cast off cares and fishing lines in the French Broad River and enjoy exploring miles and miles of trails by foot, UTV, bike or horseback. The Ward Pavilion overlooks the fully stocked pond and offers canoes and a firepit.

It’s important to note that all these pleasures at Little Pine are debt free, including the new Equestrian Center, and fiscally healthy living adds to the carefree spirit of life here.

Horses have a very special place here.

Designed for the seasoned rider as well as the beginner, the new Equestrian Center at Little Pine features 20 stalls, two outdoor riding rings, tack rooms, office, caretaker’s apartment and an attached wing with multiple cross ties, washing stalls and farrier’s area. Outside are several paddocks, and miles of riding trails.

“People are attracted to the outdoor living experience we have here,” says Fisher, “hiking through these beautiful forests, riding UTVs across miles of trails, fishing on the French Broad River, and now, having a top-tier facility to appeal to the strong number of equestrian enthusiasts and riders that this area attracts. This is going to open up a whole new world of adventure for our homeowners and guests.”

The Center will also serve as a beautiful venue for special events, private parties, weddings, concerts and small festivals. As the focal point of the community, this is a place that will celebrate horses, riders, the camaraderie of people who cherish these mountains.

Meet Bernie and Holly Arghiere of Asheville, via the San Francisco Bay area. They didn’t have to look far to discover the perfect mountain escape.

When Bernie and Holly Arghiere set about finding a quiet mountain retreat close to their Asheville home, they knew what they wanted and what they didn’t. They wanted lots of protected preserved land and wide-open, star-filled skies.“We didn’t want golf. We aren’t club people. We are nature people.” says Bernie. “And when you start looking for preserved land at a particular elevation, yet close to civilization, you realize how few and far between those places actually are today.”

Asheville has changed and grown since they first arrived from the San Francisco area in 1992. “We still love Asheville and have our primary home there. But in 2006, Holly and I started looking for a mountain property that was away from Asheville proper, to give us more of a secluded, wild setting that was still within reach of the city. And we were picky, which made it a challenge.” Little Pine had everything they were looking for. “We knew this was the place. I couldn’t believe you could get 4,000-foot views so close to Asheville. That was like discovering gold for us. And Little Pine is a true conservation community with large tracts of land protected from future development. Little Pine is truly committed to preserving this land and keeping it in its pristine state”

After building their home atop Grassland Mountain meadows, which boasts some of the most incredible views in the region, the Arghieres couldn’t be happier. “The views up here never get old,” says Bernie. The other thing I love about Little Pine that is also rare, is the bald, rolling hills upon Grassland Mountain. They are kind of unheard of, at least to me, and trust me, I’ve looked.”
