Say Hello to Dockside & The Landing
Two waterfront addresses that boast some of Lake Keowee’s most coveted shoreline
Dockside – This quiet enclave of 26 homesites is nestled in one of Lake Keowee’s quietest coves. The majority of the home sites are right on the water and all have access to the community dock, so you’re free to enjoy all of the lake’s pleasures. Home sites range from .7 to more than 4 acres. This neighborhood has a private gate, and The Cliffs’ handpicked, highly qualified group of preferred builders can assist with everything from architecture to construction to interior design.
The Landing — This addition of 600 acres on the lakefront offer panoramic views that are nothing short of spectacular. The home sites, ranging from .8 to over 2 acres, will take your breath away while offering coveted privacy, easy access to every amenity and the conveniences of nearby towns. Just a few select, premier home sites remain in the introductory phase, so we recommend you take the opportunity to tour soon.
Meet Deb and Glenn Price from Washington, DC.
Can a former intelligence officer and a nurse find happiness in a community known for its outgoing spirit? You bet!
It was way back in 2004 when Deb and Glenn Price started looking for a second home where they could ideally live in future retirement. Deb and their two children were big fans of the beach, so the Prices had often traveled to Hilton Head, Kiawah Island and Myrtle Beach. On the trek south, Glenn admired the stretch of Blue Ridge Mountains and thought it might offer a better alternative with less heat and humidity. He convinced Deb to take a look at The Cliffs Communities and somewhere along the tour of what was then a brand, new community, Deb heard that The Cliffs at Keowee Springs, is based on philosophy of wellness. Her nurse’s heart took a little jump and the Prices found the perfect compromise of upstate living with beachfront beauty and purchased their homesite. It wasn’t until 2016 that they finally built their home, lovingly called “The Last Resort.” “It was worth the wait and a dream come true,” says Deb. “It’s my all-time favorite place. I just pinch myself.” Deb was raised on lake vacations in Virginia, but says Lake Keowee is like Lake of the Woods 2.0. “There’s so much more to enjoy here. We love taking friends to visit the other Cliffs clubs. Entertaining is effortless.”
If you ask the Prices what’s the best part of living at Keowee Springs, they say, hands down, it’s the people. “We’ve met people from all over the nation with interesting backgrounds,” says Glenn, “but it’s not what you have done in life that matters here, it’s how everyone appreciates living right now in this beautiful, welcoming environment. From the night we moved in, we were welcomed with open arms.”
The Prices are happy to share their home with newcomers and people interested living at The Cliffs. Their grown children visit often. The whole family loves playing at the beach club and on the lake. Deb says the restorative yoga classes have done wonders for her fitness and also offers another outlet to meet new friends. “In the 18 months we have lived here, we’ve made more true friends than all the years we lived in D.C.” It may help that Glenn is no longer tied to the travel and secrecy of 40 years in intelligence work. He’s even taking up golf again with the Mac Daddys group. Both Glenn and Deb enjoy giving back through volunteer opportunities that include mentoring and tutoring at schools and Meal on Wheels. Their philosophy? When you’re happy and you know it, lend a hand.
