Eagles Nest

Let your inner child come out and play! The Lodges at Eagles Nest has the home you’ve been longing for since you were a kid.

Fishing, swimming, camping in a teepee, hiking, biking, navigating a ATV, rock climbing, exploring a forest, swaying to the music ringing out through the mountains and daydreaming on a rock ledge—all the things you’ve wanted to do since you were a kid are here to enjoy every day at The Lodges at Eagles Nest. This is a natural playground that keeps every generation young at heart. And you won’t find anything like it anywhere else.

Ideally located near Banner Elk—often called the Aspen of the East—and close to Boone and Blowing Rock in North Carolina, this community offers the ultimate high country retreat with some of the best views east of the Mississippi. Comfortable as a pair of well-worn jeans, you know you’ve found something special the moment you arrive. Gazing out at the Black Mountains and Pisgah National Forest, you breathe in the fresh mountain air and feel a rush of invigoration. You’re ready to play!

Although the area offers everything in outdoor recreation including excellent golf, skiing and whitewater rafting, the pleasures of this community leave little reason to wander past the gate.

Every day is a new adventure

Head to the Great Camp where you can enjoy disc golf, a ropes course, archery, hiking and a dozen other diversions. Spend a summer’s evening under the stars listening and dancing to live music, enjoy the wine and cigar bar while the kids ride on the hanging log horse at the barbecue pavilion. Spend the night or weekend at the Tee Pee Village where you can “rough it” with king-size beds, a refrigerator, fans, and a coffee maker. All the equipment you need for every sport or recreation is available at the Toy Barn from mountain biking to baseball to lacrosse to fly-fishing.

Other exceptional amenities include the new equestrian center with a 16-stall barn, a river club with a sparkling pool and a beautiful stretch of riverfront, and the Double Eagle Lodge with luxury suites, a fitness center and extraordinary views of Grandfather Mountain.

Building your new home or cottage at Eagles Nest is almost as easy as child’s play. You can select from smartly designed cottage home plans or bring your own custom plans. Now is the time to take advantage of new property releases and unusual incentives.

Eagles Nest

Meet Ken and Nicole Neeld from Charlotte. They found the perfect excuse to get away and play.

From the time Ken Neeld was a student at Appalachian State and his wife, Nicole was at Lees-McRae College, they knew they loved this part of the country. “Some people are beach people and some are mountain people. We’re definitely mountain,” says Ken. “And we are definitely passionate about Eagles Nest.” When they decided to look for a second home that could someday evolve into their full time residence, they didn’t have to look farther than Eagles Nest. “There’s nothing else like it. Anywhere. When we first saw it, we thought this is too good to be true.”

Both Ken and Nicole love the great outdoors, anything to do with nature and the climate of Western North Carolina. “We ski, run ATVs, hike…we’re a little adventurous. And everywhere you look at Eagles Nest there is something new to do, explore and share with our friends. In fact, we often bring friends from Charlotte to camp at the Tee Pee Village. We grill out and relax. We don’t have to sell the Eagles Nest lifestyle to our friends at home, the community really speaks for itself.”

Ken, Nicole and their 12-year-old daughter Gabriella find so much to do on their weekend visits to Eagles Nest they rarely leave the community. “Every weekend the community brings in great bands and food trucks. Everyone gathers together and friendships come easily. All ages—kids to retirees. There’s nothing stuffy or pretentious here—just people who share a love of the mountains and an outdoor adventure lifestyle. Every time we’re here there’s a chance to engage with people and get to know each other.”

Ken appreciates that every amenity is planned and built to exceed expectations—from the natural amphitheater built into the rock ledge, to climbing walls, to the equestrian center and river lodge. “Nothing is done halfway here. It’s always over the top.” The Neelds feel they’ve found a home that personifies a fun spirit. “If you love nature and hanging out with good people, this is the best place on earth.”
