An enchanting town with lots of old fashioned charm, Hendersonville lies between the Great Smokey Mountains and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The downtown area is popular place for visitors and is entered into the National Register of Historic Places. Shoppers delight in the many boutiques, gift shops and antique stores. Enjoy fine dining to deli favorites in the many restaurants that line the streets. Connemara, Carl Sandburg’s home in nearby Flat Rock, is an interesting place to explore the life of one of our nation’s best poets, and the Flat Rock Playhouse is renowned for its performances. A multi-faceted celebration of interests is met here, from the many waterfalls found in our nearby state parks and national forests, to The Arts Center exhibits, to the restored antique aircraft displayed at the Western Carolina Air Museum. Hendersonville also offers two excellent medical facilities, Pardee Memorial Hospital and Park Ridge Hospital.   A new addition to Hendersonville’s Main Street is The Mills Center for the Arts. This $22 million center, currently under development, will include a 1200-seat concert hall, a children’s museum, exhibit areas and a “black box theatre” with flexible seating for various performances. Every season brings something new to explore, marked by festivals, concerts, and celebrations. Beautiful scenery abounds. You may prefer to hike to your lookout point or take a comfortable drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
